Patch liner being installed inside a damaged drain pipe

A cracked, displaced or damaged drain does not always need to be excavated. AllTime Drainage provides professional drain patch lining in Farnborough and the surrounding area, repairing localised defects from inside the existing pipe wherever conditions allow.

This trenchless method avoids digging through driveways, patios, gardens and floors. It is often faster and less disruptive than excavation, while creating a strong new section inside the damaged drain.

What is drain patch lining?

Drain patch lining, also called localised structural lining or a no-dig drain repair, is used to repair a specific damaged section of pipe.

A resin-impregnated liner is positioned over the defect using specialist installation equipment. The liner is expanded firmly against the inside of the pipe and allowed to cure. Once set, it forms a tough internal sleeve across the damaged area. The result is a smooth, sealed repair completed through an existing access point, without excavating the whole pipe run.

Why a camera inspection comes first

Damage around a pipe connection can catch waste, restrict flow, let water escape and give roots a way in. Simply clearing the drain only deals with the immediate blockage. It doesn't repair the defect underneath. A correctly specified patch liner reinforces and seals the damaged section, so the cause of the recurring problem is dealt with.

After the repair, we carry out a further CCTV inspection to check the liner's position, finish and the condition of the surrounding pipework.

When can a patch liner repair a drain?

  • Cracked or fractured drainage pipes
  • Open or displaced joints
  • Small holes and localised pipe damage
  • Root ingress through a defective joint
  • Leaking drain connections
  • Sections that repeatedly collect waste or cause blockages
  • Defects beneath driveways, patios, paths, gardens or internal floors

Every drain is different. A CCTV survey is needed before recommending lining because the pipe must be suitable for the repair. If a section has completely collapsed, lost its shape or can't be properly accessed and prepared, excavation may still be necessary. We explain the findings and options before any repair work begins.

Our no-dig drain repair process

1. CCTV drain inspection

We inspect the pipe internally to locate the defect, assess its severity and record its position.

2. Cleaning and preparation

The damaged section must be thoroughly prepared. Depending on the pipe, this can include high-pressure water jetting, scale removal, root cutting or mechanical cleaning. A clean surface helps the liner bond correctly.

3. Patch liner installation

The liner is soaked in resin, positioned accurately over the defect and expanded against the pipe wall. Accurate placement is particularly important near junctions and connections.

4. Curing

The liner is held in place while it cures and hardens into a structural repair inside the existing drain.

5. Final CCTV inspection

Once cured, the equipment is removed and the repaired section is checked by camera to confirm the finish and that the drain is flowing correctly.

Why choose a no-dig drain repair?

  • No large excavation across the property
  • Less disruption, mess and reinstatement work
  • Faster than many dig-and-replace repairs
  • A targeted repair to the defective section
  • A smoother internal surface across the repaired area
  • Reduced risk of roots re-entering through the repaired defect

Patch lining is especially valuable when the damage is under a driveway, patio, landscaped garden, extension or internal floor, where digging would be costly and disruptive.

Patch lining or full relining?

A patch liner repairs one localised defect, and is normally the most efficient choice when the surrounding pipe is still serviceable. A full-length liner covers a longer section and may suit a run with several defects. Excavation may be recommended for a fully collapsed or badly deformed drain. We use the CCTV evidence to recommend the proportionate repair rather than treating every defect the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Is patch lining cheaper than digging up a drain?

It often is, particularly when the pipe is under a driveway, patio, building or landscaped area. The exact cost depends on access, pipe size, cleaning needed, and the length and location of the defect.

Can a patch liner stop tree roots?

It seals the cracked joint or defect the roots came through. Existing roots must be removed first, and roots could still enter through other defects elsewhere, so the full survey matters.

Can you line clay and plastic drains?

Many clay, concrete and plastic pipes can be lined, provided their condition, size and access are suitable.

Do you inspect the repair afterwards?

Yes. Every repair gets a post-installation CCTV check once the liner has cured.
