Blocked Toilets
Blocked toilet in Farnborough or nearby?
Toilet rising, gurgling or won't flush away? Cleared fast, including blockages further down the drain.
Overview
A blocked toilet is one of the most urgent drain problems there is, especially if it's the only one in the house. We clear blocked toilets across Farnborough and the surrounding towns, whether the blockage is in the toilet itself, the soil pipe, or further down in the underground drain.
The first thing Jack works out is where the blockage is. If the toilet is the only thing affected, it's usually close by and quick to clear. If the toilet rises when you run a sink or bath, or the outside manhole is full, the blockage is in the main drain, and that's where it needs clearing.

Signs it's more than just the toilet
- The toilet rises when you run the sink, bath or washing machine
- Gurgling from the toilet when other things drain
- Water rising in a downstairs shower or bath
- An outside manhole or gully full of waste
- More than one toilet in the house is slow
Any of these means the blockage is probably in the shared drain run outside, not the toilet. Stop flushing and stop using water in the house until it's cleared, so it doesn't back up further.
What usually causes it
Wet wipes are the most common cause by far, including the ones labelled 'flushable'. After that it's sanitary products, cotton buds, kitchen roll, too much toilet paper in one go, and the occasional toy. In older drains, scale and roots narrow the pipe so ordinary waste starts catching.
If a toilet keeps blocking even though nothing unusual is going down it, the pipe itself is often the problem. A CCTV survey shows whether there's a crack, a dip or a displaced joint catching the waste.
Before you call
- Stop flushing, it only adds water
- Don't pour chemical unblockers into a full pan
- If you have a plunger, a few firm pushes is fine
- Check whether the outside manhole is full, and tell us when you call
FAQs
Blocked Toilets: common questions
How quickly can you unblock a toilet?
We're typically with you in under an hour, 7 days a week, 6am–9pm. Most toilet blockages are cleared within the hour once we're there.
Is there a call-out fee for a blocked toilet?
No. The call-out is included in the price Jack agrees with you on the phone before he sets off.
Why does my toilet keep blocking?
Usually wipes or too much paper, but if nothing unusual is going down it, there may be a defect in the pipe. A CCTV survey will find it.
Can I use the other toilet while I wait?
Only if it drains to a different run. If both go to the same drain and the blockage is in the main run, using the other toilet will make it back up further.
