Root Removal

Drain root removal in Farnborough & nearby

Tree roots cut out of your pipes and the flow restored, with repairs to stop them getting back in.

Overview

Tree roots are one of the most common causes of serious, recurring drain blockages. Roots go looking for water, and they find it through tiny cracks and loose joints in underground pipes. Once inside, they keep growing, catching waste and eventually blocking the drain or cracking the pipe.

We cut roots out using specialist mechanical cutters and high-pressure jetting, flush the debris away and restore the flow, usually without any digging.

Signs of roots in your drains

  • Blockages that keep coming back
  • Slow-draining sinks, toilets or baths
  • Gurgling from plugholes or toilets
  • Bad smells from drains
  • Unusually lush grass along the line of a drain
  • Sunken ground or subsidence in severe cases

The earlier roots are dealt with, the less damage they do to the pipe.

How we remove them

We cut the roots back to the pipe wall with mechanical cutting heads, then jet the pipe to flush out the debris. A CCTV camera before or after shows how far the roots went and whether the pipe is damaged.

Stopping them coming back

Cutting roots out restores the flow, but if the crack or joint they came through is still open, they'll grow back. Where the pipe is suitable, a no-dig patch liner seals the entry point for good. We see this a lot in leafy towns like Fleet and Camberley.

FAQs

Root Removal: common questions

How do roots get into drains?

Through small cracks, loose joints or failed seals. Roots grow towards moisture, so a leaking pipe draws them in.

Will the roots grow back?

If the damaged section isn't repaired, they can. That's why we often recommend a patch liner after the roots are cut out.

Do you have to dig up my garden?

Usually not. We remove roots from the inside through existing access points.

Do you remove roots for commercial properties?

Yes. We deal with root intrusion in homes and commercial drainage of all sizes.
