FAQs

Common drainage questions

Straight answers on call-outs, prices and the work itself.

Call-outs

How quickly can you get here?

We're typically with you in under an hour, 7 days a week, 6am–9pm. Call and Jack will tell you straight away when he can be there.

Do you offer a same-day service?

Usually, yes. Most blockages are cleared the same day you call.

Can you come out at night or at the weekend?

At weekends Jack takes calls at any hour. If it can wait, he'll book you in for a sensible time. If it can't, he'll come out, and he'll tell you the out-of-hours rate on the phone before he sets off.

What should I do if my drain is overflowing?

Stop using the sinks, toilets and appliances that drain into it, so you're not adding more water. Then call us and we'll get to you as quickly as we can.

Do you cover my area?

We cover 36 towns across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, all listed on our Areas We Cover page. If you're just outside them, call and ask. We may still be able to help.

Prices

How much does drain unblocking cost?

It depends on the blockage, so Jack talks it through with you and agrees the price on the phone before he sets off. No hidden extras on the day.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. There's no separate charge just for turning up. It's included in the price Jack agrees with you on the phone.

What if you can't clear it?

Usually you won't pay. The only exception is if something on your side stops him, like no safe access to the drain. Either way, Jack explains exactly what he's found and agrees a clear plan with you. No surprises.

The work

What are the signs of a blocked drain?

Slow-draining sinks, baths or showers, bad smells, gurgling noises, water backing up, or an outside drain overflowing. If you notice any of these, it's best to act quickly before it gets worse.

How long does it take to clear a blocked drain?

Most jobs are finished within the hour. Stubborn blockages, tree roots or damaged pipework can take longer, and Jack will tell you if that's the case.

Can tree roots cause blocked drains?

Yes. Roots get into pipes through cracks and loose joints, then grow and catch waste. We cut them out and can check the pipe with a camera to see how they got in.

Do you provide CCTV drain surveys?

Yes. We put a camera down the drain to find blockages, cracks, root ingress and collapsed sections without digging anything up.

Is a CCTV drain survey necessary?

It's worth it if you have recurring blockages, you're buying a property, or you suspect damage. It shows exactly what's wrong, so you only pay for the fix you actually need.

Can you fix damaged or collapsed drains?

Many cracked, leaking or root-damaged pipes can be repaired from the inside with a no-dig patch liner. A pipe that has fully collapsed may need excavating. Either way, we'll show you the camera footage and explain the options first.

How can I prevent future blockages?

Bin cooking fat instead of pouring it down the sink, use plughole strainers, and only flush toilet paper. Wipes, even 'flushable' ones, are one of the biggest causes of the blockages we clear. Businesses and busy kitchens benefit from planned maintenance.

Will you make a mess?

No. Jack leaves everything clean and tidy before he goes.

Are you insured?

Yes. Jack has public liability insurance.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. As well as homes, we unblock and maintain drains for landlords, letting agents, restaurants and commercial premises.
